Your checking account or wallet loses money every time you go through a toll. This may be frustrating, as you work hard for money. When you factor in a trip’s cost, the team at this Jeep dealership in City of Industry, CA says that you need to include not just money for gas but toll money, too. Keep reading to find out ways that you can save on the expense of tolls!

    Stay Away from Tolls

We’re aware that this is probably easier said than done, however, it is possible. When you’re looking up a driving route online, many websites will let you check an option if you want to avoid toll booths. Many drivers feel that this is an easy way to avoid tolls. You’ll also have a more interesting drive, with more farms, shops, lakes and streams to see on your way to a destination, whereas the highway is just full of trees. Toll booths can get backed up during commuting time, too, costing you more in time and gas. Thank goodness for the World Wide Web and all the driving resources it makes available! We honestly do not remember how we drove from place to place without it…oh, yes, paper maps.

    Use an Electronic Payment Method

A FasTrak or similar electronic-payment method will reduce your toll costs, but will also cut down your time at the toll both. With a FasTrak or similar method, you might not have to physically stop for the toll, and it may be like you never really went through a toll because of how fast it makes things. We recommend that if you’re renting a car, you bring your FasTrak or other kind of electronic payment with you. However, make sure that the rental car’s transponder box is closed before use. It’s also becoming more common for electronic-payment only roads to present themselves. If you do not have a FasTrak or a similar system for the tolls, a picture of your vehicle will be taken and you will be billed for payment later, often with an administrative fee attached. Keep in mind where you are traveling, though, not every type of electronic payment will work in all parts of the country.

    Share your ride

If you or a co-worker would like to take a break from driving, you can split the cost of toll booths. This will benefit both of you. In addition, it is a given that you will be dividing up the cost of gas. You will both have extra money to spend on other things if you decide to divvy up the cost sometimes.

    Conclusions

As we’ve indicated above, three main ways that you can save on tolls are to use to drive a route that does not include tolls at all, use an electronic payment method or to carpool. You may drive through many toll booths every morning on your way to work and back to your residence each night. Maybe you almost never encounter a toll. Nevertheless, we hope that you have liked this article on how to save money on tolls!
