Here’s a story of Alex Newman from San Francisco, California. Passionate about American muscle cars, he got himself a 1967 Pontiac Firebird. Not only did it cost him a small fortune to buy it (about 35 grand), but this car proved to be a real gas-guzzler. With the mileage of 11 mpg, he had to visit a gas station on a daily basis. Working as a data recovery guy, he had to drive across the city each time his clients had an emergency. What this means was that he was wasting literally hundreds of dollars on fuel each week!

On top of that, considering that his Firebird was a 50-year-old car, saying that it wasn’t reliable would be an understatement. It used to break down all the time, often making him miss important business appointments. That’s why he’s decided to get himself a new car, one that’s reliable and fuel-efficient.

If you’re like Alex, here are the top 5 best cars for busy professionals:

    1. Smart Fortwo

Introduced two decades ago, Smart Fortwo has become an iconic city car. Of course, the main reason why Smart Fortwo is on this list is the fuel economy. But, this car is great for many other things other than its gas mileage.

Thanks to the fact that it’s so small, you can fit it in literally any parking space without having to worry you might bump another car. Furthermore, thanks to its small size, the car is super-easy to drive. It’s not very fast, but it doesn’t matter if you’re going to drive it around the city, where the speed limit is usually 35 mph.

Surely, we can’t ignore the elephant in the room which is that this car is a two-seater. So, if you’re a busy professional who needs to drive his team from one part of the city to another, maybe a Smart Fortwo is not the best option. The good news is that there are plenty of other options to choose from. A Mini Cooper is one of those.

    2. Mini Cooper

Based on the iconic British car from the 1960s, the Mini Cooper performs great when it comes to city driving. Thanks to its compact design, this car is very easy to maneuver, and you surely won’t have any problems finding a parking space. On top of everything, the Mini Cooper has a really impressive gas mileage, meaning that you’re guaranteed to save a lot of money in the long run if you decide to buy it.

    3. Chevrolet Spark

Manufactured by GM Korea, the Chevrolet Spark is a 5-door hatchback designed to perform great in the city. It’s not too fast, but it’s easy to drive and very comfortable. Even when it’s full, it doesn’t feel crowded.

Apart from being comfy, this car is also very good for your budget. In fact, when it comes to fuel consumption, it’s one of the best choices you can make. Furthermore, there has been a recently released all-electric version of this model, which can be a great choice for eco-friendly drivers.

    4. Ford Fiesta

Did you know that since the Fiesta was introduced in 1976, it has become the 3rd-most-popular Ford model ever? This fact should not surprise you too much, given the fact that it looks rather nice, its fuel economy is great, and above everything, it’s super comfortable.

    5. Toyota Prius

The production of the Prius started more than two decades ago and over time several versions of this hybrid were introduced. The latest was the Prius fastback, which was released in 2018. Unlike previous models, this version features a really large interior space. What this means is that you can pack all of your tools and equipment without making the passengers feel uncomfortable.

These are just a few of the best picks for busy professionals.  Do you have any personal recommendations?  Let us know in the comments.
