Parking your car under a tree is the best way to save it from the scorching heat, but the bird droppings might come as a surprise! Not just the droppings look gross, but they have a significant impact on the paint’s quality, making it fade away quickly.

The easiest way to remove the bird poop is scraping it away gently, but you cannot do it to dry dropping. Also, you need to take care of the paint so that it does not chip off when you are experimenting with the droppings.

Here are five sure-fire ways to get bird droppings off your gorgeous car. Furthermore, these tips will not affect the paint’s quality in any way, and your car will look new and beautiful.

Why Should You Worry About Bird Droppings? Are There any Bad Effects?

Most people just see it as poop, but it is something more than that! As per some studies, bird droppings can contain strong uric acid. And this acid is detrimental to the car’s paintwork.

As per car owners, bird poop is one of the most common reasons why the car’s paint damages so quickly. So, you should get rid of them ASAP.

How Long Can You Leave the Droppings on Your Car?

You are running late for the office and see your car getting drenched in bird’s poop, what will you do? In a parallel universe, you’ll get into your home clothes, and start cleaning the car. But your boss will surely not like you showing up late at work.

It is essential to clean the bird poop right away as you see it, but if you are running late, or don’t have enough time to make the car spick and span, just throw some water on the droppings.

The water slows down the drying process, and the droppings loosen the grip, which makes cleaning easier. You should never ignore bird poop, as it can seriously damage the paint.

How to Clean Bird’s Dropping from the Paintwork and the Windows

I’ve classified the processes into two parts, so you can quickly collect the essential information you need to clean the droppings without any hassles.

Before you start, I’d suggest parking the car in your garage so that your car does not get the next shot from a beautiful Scissor-tailed Flycatcher flying around your garden.

Steps to Clean the Poop from the Car’s Windows

    Things You Need:

    • Water
    • Any glass cleaning solution (for example, WD-40)
    • Glass wax for buffing
    • Microfiber towel

Step 1: Rinse the Glass and Scrape the Poop

Rinse the windows with regular water, and scrape off the poop using a soft scrapper. Unlike the paintwork, glass is not prone to chipping off, but you should be gentle with it as well.

    Step 2: Spray WD-40

Spray the solution all over the glass, and leave it for some time. Now splash water over the windows, and clean them with a soft cloth. You’ll see the stains coming off quickly, as glass is non-porous and does not absorb the poop, unlike the paint.

    Step 3: Buff It Properly

Buffing isn’t necessary, but I recommend waxing the entire glass as it makes removing bird droppings easier. In addition, you can quickly scrape the poop off, as the wax does not let it stick to the glass.

Another benefit of buffing the windows is that you can defrost the car’s windshield easily, as scraping the snow becomes hassle-free.

Steps to Clean the Poop from the Car’s Paintwork

    Things You Need:

    • Safety gloves
    • A spray bottle
    • Soft microfiber towels
    • A bucket of lukewarm water
    • Car cleaning shampoo
    • Car wax

    Step 1: Prepare the Solution

Add some lukewarm water in a bottle and pour some drops of good-quality car shampoo. Shake well, and spritz it over the bird’s droppings. If there is a large area to cover, i.e., the roof, you can add the shampoo directly to the bucket and pour it slowly on the roof.

You’ll see most of the droppings getting washed with the water, so it will make your job easier.

Step 2: Rub them off with Microfiber Towel

The next step is removing the dry stains. Take a soft microfiber towel, and rub off the poop gently. You can spray more hot water if required.

Do this for the entire car where you see stains and marks, and rinse the car with normal water.

    Step 3: Wax It

Now your car is clean from bird droppings, but to make the paint shine, you need to wax the car. Use a good-quality automotive wax, and apply it to the car to make it look good.

Quick Tips to Protect your Car from Bird Droppings

Now your car looks good after following the aforementioned steps, but in order to maintain its shape, you need to follow these tips.

    Park in the Garage

If you own a garage, always park your car in it. A garage is the safest place, and birds cannot invade there, provided you have a good garage door.

    Use Automotive Covers

Another cheap way to keep the car clean is using an automotive cover. Use a good-quality waterproof cover, and enjoy the freedom to park your car anywhere.

    Get It Treated

There are plenty of car treatments available these days, like the PPF, that safeguard the car’s paint. These treatments make the bird poop easily cleanable, and you can get rid of it just with a soft cloth and some water.

    Final Thoughts

Cleaning the bird droppings off your car is easy, but it takes time, so it would be great to park your car in a garage. Never scrape off the hard poop using a screwdriver or a knife because it will damage the paint and affect your vehicle’s value.

So, follow the quick hacks covered in this article, and be rest assured that your ride looks gorgeous all the time. Lastly, wash your car often to prevent the poop from drying and leaving stains on the vehicle.

That start-up sounds pretty damn promising!

This thing packs a whopping 791 hp (590 kW) and 1,430 Nm of torque.

    • We waited a fair bit for the Tiguan R to arrive but that means it has been given enough thought and executed with the sort of German precision that makes us happy to have waited.

As fast SUVs go it’s a cracker, and with a price tag starting from R1,014,900 it is actually decent value in the segment.

It’s fun, aggressive when you want it to be and remarkably civilised when you don’t. Cars like this rarely make sense, but the Tiguan R is one case where that argument starts to change one's mind.

We cannot wait to drive the matching Golf next week!

    • If you’re expecting a faster, angrier and more focused version of the original 86, you’re going to be happy with this car.

Toyota finally gave the 86 more power. It’s not take-your-breath-away power, but again, it’s not made to win drag races. If you want more power, get a Supra.

Sure it is a bit more pricey this time around but it is a no-regrets kind of car that you will enjoy just as much today as 10 years from now.

Long live the manual transmission, especially when it’s packaged within something as fun as the Toyota GR86.
