    Official: FIA Confirm 1.6litre V6 for F1 in 2014

    Yes that’s right, Formula 1 engines are losing even more cylinders. V12’s were being used but in the mid 90’s they changed to V10’s. These were replaced by V8’s in 2006 where we are still sitting today. It has been confirmed that a further 2 cylinders will be dropped in favour of a 1.6litre turbo charged V6. A new type of energy recovery system will also be used which will replace the current KERS system.
