2014 VW Golf GTI Revealed In Production Trim

We have seen pictures and figures previously on this car blog which showed us the concept of the 7th generation of the Golf GTI. Not much has changed from the concept to the production version but for me the most noticeable change is the wheels. We still get the red accent lines on the grille which now extened into the lights (which I think is awesome), we still get the honeycomb grille, rear spoiler, twin exhausts, side skirts and a diffuser. I personally own the 6th generation Golf GTI and one of the biggest things for me are the wheels, I absolutely love them. In the production version they have gone for a whole new design as opposed to the slightly tweaked design we saw on the concept version. I preferred the ones on the concept version so this a negative for me. Interior wise it all looks great except the steering wheel looks a little bit flimsy and too retro? A new 2.0-liter turbocharged engine offers 217hp (base version) or 227hp (GTI performance version). VW have claimed a 0 to 100km/h time of 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 250km/h. The current GTI hits 100km/h in 6.9 seconds so it is a fair bit quicker. Expect prices to be in the R370 000 region.
