I hate seeing nice cars wrecked but seriously valuable classic cars hurt the soul. This Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing was wrecked in Germany yesterday when the mechanic was taking it for a test drive. The car was busy being restored which then allowed a 26 year old mechanic to get his hands on the keys. He apparently went over the speed limit of 80km/h and slid off the side of the road. The driver and passenger did not have any injuries but the estimated damage for this iconic car is 650000 euros (R8million). The car was insured so the owner was apparently quite calm but it will now need to be completely restored!
