AMG and Aston Martin have announced today plans to join forces. The deal will allow Aston Martin access to the AMG resources and we know exactly what resources these will be. Development of the astonishing V8 and some of the electronic bits and bobs that the Germans have developed. What do Mercedes (Daimler AG) get in return? Well a stake of up to 5% in Aston Martin is what it is worth. Ian Minards (Aston Martin product developmenr director) said “We have selected AMG specifically as the basis for this powertrain development process” and the head of AMG said “We are proud to work with Aston Martin and provide them with powertrain and e/e components for their forthcoming sports cars. This is proof of AMG’s technological and performance expertise and a real win-win situation for both sides”. Wonder what this could mean for future Aston’s? An all-new V8 lineup perhaps?
