As a big Volkswagen Golf fan this news most certainly brings a smile to my face. The first official teaser photo of the all new VW Golf R has been released and although you cannot see much, we are given 2 hints. “R kommt” in German means “R Comes” I am assuming this will be at an upcoming motor show and most likely Frankfurt and then the number 300 which I am pretty sure refers to the new power output of this hot hatch. It will still be a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four which produces 296hp and 380Nm of torque. This engine is used by the very nippy Audi S3 so let’s hope it has some decent shout. This seventh generation Golf R will be lighter and more powerful than its predecessor so I am expecting great things!
