New Mazda MX-5 Doesn’t Do It For Me

The entirely new, fourth-gen, Mazda MX-5 Miata Roadster has been unveiled ahead of its rollout in 2015. It has lost a full 100 kg in weight, it is 105 mm shorter overall and 20 mm lower. The juicy details about the engines were withheld by Mazda but they did confirm the existence of “specially tuned SKYACTIV-G petrol engines”. Most people think it will be a 2.0-litre inline four hooked up to a 6-speed manual driving the rear wheels. What is most notable about this car is the styling. It is drastically different to the outgoing MX-5 and to be brutally honest, I don’t think it looks too good. The nose droops too low and the rear just doesn’t do it for me at all. To be fair, I am not the biggest MX-5 fan so I was not exactly waiting for the new one but you will not see me purchasing one of these based purely on cosmetics.
