The open-top version of the hardcore Aventador SV has been revealed at Pebble Beach and if you want one, you will need to part with £350,000 (around R11 million). This price tag means it carries a £30,000 premium over the Coupe. They have planned a production run of just 500 units and it is likely to sell out just as fast, if not faster, as the Coupe. As we expected, the performance figures are almost identical to the Coupe which means power comes from the same 6.5-litre V12 engine, producing 740bhp at 8400rpm – a full 49 hp more than the 641 hp on offer in the regular Aventador. Power is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed automated manual transmission. There is a 50kg increase in weight but the Roadster can still hit 100 km/h from stand still in 2.9 seconds and go all the way to the Coupe matching top speed of 217 mph. The hard-top is made of carbon fibre and has a quick release system that adds just 6kg in weight. The rear piece of glass can be raised or lowered from inside the cabin and can act as a wind deflector when the roof is down.
