We all know that Mercedes-AMG developed the GLE 63 S Coupe to tackle the mighty BMW X6 M but have they done enough? Cars.co.za managed to get the two together on a track and more importantly head-to-head in a proper drag race! Looking at the numbers, the Mercedes should have it in the bag. The GLE Coupe is available in two AMG guises. The “standard” model has its 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 tuned to 557 HP and 700 Nm of torque, while the S version takes things up a notch to 585 HP and 760 Nm of torque. The BMW has a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 making 575 HP and 750 Nm of torque, hooked up to a new 8-speed gearbox and xDrive all-wheel drive system. The acceleration time is the same as for the AMG 63 S version, at 4.2 seconds. This is one hell of a match up but let’s take a look how it plans out…
