McLaren P1 LM May Attempt To Get Nurburgring Lap Record

We all know what the McLaren P1 LM is capable of after it’s performance at Goodwood FoS this year but what we don’t know is if it can take the Nurburgring lap time record. The answer to that is probably highly likely but it may not happen for sure. Lanzante, the creator of the beast, will be running the car at The Ring to finalise it’s set-up and although a lap record is not their priority, if the conditions are good, an attempt is a possibility.

“We’ve seen what the road car is capable of there and we’ve got simulations of what our car can do,” said company boss Dean Lanzante. “Kenny Bräck is doing all of the driving, so if an opportunity arose, we have the right man for the job.”

Judging by these words, Mr. Lanzante is confident he can steal the title from Porsche’s 918 Spyder.

“We don’t have the finances or the time to do something like Porsche,” he said in reference to the 918’s testing programme. “If it rains, the track isn’t fast enough, so we can’t do a lap. And we don’t want to do a Koenigsegg…”
