Many manufacturers these days are loving the Special Edition creations and after it’s Elise 250 and Evora 400, Lotus are revealing their Exige 350 Special Edition and it looks like a baby Viper. It has been created to celebrate 50 years of Lotus at Hethel, a small village in Norfolk, England which is where Lotus set up shop. The location was perfect because the company was able to rework parts of the runway and access roads into a private test track. Jean-Marc Gales, Lotus Group CEO, said the following about the car.

“The Lotus Exige is the quickest point-to-point sports car on the road; nothing can match its levels of accessible performance and grip. It’s lightweight, responsive and exceedingly fast, with the purity expected of a Lotus. It is a real beast that needs taming but it won’t bite back.”

So what is special about this Special Edition? It has lost 25 kg’s thanks to carbon fibre sport seats and some other helpful mods. These include a lighter battery, lighter engine mounts, a louvered tailgate and lightweight center console. The 3.5-litre supercharged V6 is capable of pushing out 345 horsepower which is enough to get to 100 km/h from standstill in just 3.7 seconds. The only transmission choice is a six-speed manual but with a car setup like this, what else would you want?
