According to the source, a BMW i8 and 1M were racing each other towards Antwerp when they touched each other coming out of the Rupeltunel. The 1M Coupe got off lightly as both occupants sustained minor injuries while the BMW i8 split into three pieces instantly killing the passenger and the driver passed away after getting to the hospital.
One of the victims of the crash was the 23 year old son of businessman Pascal Feryn (who also competed in the Dakar Rally). The images show disturbing shots of the condition of the i8 and if it wasn’t for the blue seatbelts one would have difficulty diagnosing which car it was before the tragic crash. Two young lives lost way too soon. Do not race on public roads people!
