BMW’s are high maintenance vehicles that are in need of constant care if you wish to keep them in tip top shape. After spending the money on a car that’s sleek appearance, a good ride and adds a little something special to your life it is important that you personally take care of it and send your car to the shop when it needs service.

To maintain your car’s performance and reliability take it in for regular service. You want to enjoy this fine machine and make sure that it gets you everywhere you want to go. Your BMW has a specific guide that will help you schedule your when your car needs to be serviced.

1992 and Older: Depending on the model of your vehicle, a certain number of miles indicates the time you need to have your car serviced. If you have an older model you need to get your car checked more frequently to make sure it is in its best shape. The first time you take it in should be around 7,500 miles and continue to go after every 7,500 miles. This will help you keep up to date on what is going on with your car and you won’t have to worry as much on the when. Keep an eye on your mileage and when you reach 15,000 miles take you car in for its second visit. 1992-1998: After ‘92 the time between visits increases. Instead of 7,500 miles you need to take you car in for a checkup every 10,000 miles. If your car is making any crazy sounds or your brakes are sticking be sure to take your car in for a check up right away. Not every car is the same so paying attention to your car is the most important way to figure out when it needs maintenance.  1999- Present: Cars made since 1999 require a checkup after 15,000 miles

While the maintenance schedule is important other things should not be missed. If you hear any odd sounds or if warning lights are flashing take your car into be serviced. If your car needs anything that you are unable to do yourself take your car to the shop. This schedule is recommended times that are best for your car. If for any reason you feel your European car needs to be serviced or checked on take it in. If you are going on a road trip take your car in for a check up. There are many reasons your car might need service so don’t ignore those reasons just to keep up with the schedule.

BMW’s are special vehicles. They have a reputation to uphold and so do you as the owner. Take care of your car by performing personal maintenance on your car. Keep it clean and give it what it needs, fluids and oil checks. When it is time to take your car in remember that it is what is best for your vehicle and that with the proper maintenance you will be able to take care of you car for a long time.

    • We waited a fair bit for the Tiguan R to arrive but that means it has been given enough thought and executed with the sort of German precision that makes us happy to have waited.

As fast SUVs go it’s a cracker, and with a price tag starting from R1,014,900 it is actually decent value in the segment.

It’s fun, aggressive when you want it to be and remarkably civilised when you don’t. Cars like this rarely make sense, but the Tiguan R is one case where that argument starts to change one's mind.

We cannot wait to drive the matching Golf next week!

Zandvoort Blue would not be our choice but the looks have certainly grown on us. What about all of you?

    • If you’re expecting a faster, angrier and more focused version of the original 86, you’re going to be happy with this car.

Toyota finally gave the 86 more power. It’s not take-your-breath-away power, but again, it’s not made to win drag races. If you want more power, get a Supra.

Sure it is a bit more pricey this time around but it is a no-regrets kind of car that you will enjoy just as much today as 10 years from now.

Long live the manual transmission, especially when it’s packaged within something as fun as the Toyota GR86.
