The Ford Focus XR5 continues to draw millions of die-hard fans around the world, due to its beasty, athletic design as well as its performance beneath the hood. Why not take its solid, sporty appearance up a notch, by adding a body kit to your vehicle?

Manufactured in different locations all over the world, it’s no secret that there is an abundance of body kits out there to choose from to lift the appearance of your Ford Focus XR5. To help narrow down the options for you, we discuss three of the top kits available today.

When deciding upon the best body kit for your Ford Focus, it is worth keeping in mind the following things:

    • the sort of look you are going for
    • how much you are willing to spend
    • your preference regarding the different materials available
    • whether before installation occurs, if any items require any preparation such as priming and the application of paint of your choice

    Maxton Design

Maxton are renowned worldwide for their design and manufacture of some of the highest quality body kits available on the market today. Manufactured in locations across Europe, Maxton kits are produced using a flexible and durable plastic known as acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, commonly referred to as ABS, which was created specifically for the motor car industry. If you think Maxton Design body kits are for you, you have the following stylish components to choose from:

    • Front Splitter
    • Front Racing Splitter
    • Front Bumper
    • Bonnet Extension
    • Side Skirts Diffusers
    • Rear Side Splitters
    • Rear Bumper
    • Rear Diffuser
    • Spoiler
    • Spoiler Extension
    • Spoiler Cap

You have the option to have the components painted with your preferred colour, or you can choose to simply mount them as is. All components arrive in black and you have the ability to choose from a number of different surface options.

Both the front splitter as well as the side skirts are great options if you want to visually lower your vehicle to the road. These components can also boost the performance of your vehicle, by offering you both improved grip and stability on the road.

    3D Carbon

It’s no surprise that 3D Carbon body kit components designed to fit the Ford Focus XR5 are licensed by Ford themselves, due to both their outstanding quality and their perfect fit. Based in the USA, 3D Carbon are famous for their luxurious looking body kits designed to fit compact sport cars.

Manufactured from quality polyurethane, the 3D Carbon kit for the Ford Focus XR5 includes the following five items:

    • Front Air Dam
    • Right Side Skirt
    • Left Side Skirt
    • Rear Lower Skirt
    • Rear Roof Spoiler

Unlike body kits produced by many other brands, 3D Carbon kit components all require preparation, priming, as well as paint application according to your personal taste, before you can proceed with the installation of the kit. Reason being, 3D Carbon kits are manufactured using high-pressure injection mould technology from high quality polyurethane.

    Seibon

Seibon’s stylish and functional range of body kits is a great option for Ford Focus enthusiasts looking to upgrade the performance of their car in addition to its appearance. Famous for its light weight, Seibon kits are produced from high quality carbon fibre (from the United States or France) using aerodynamic technology.

If a Seibon body kit sounds like the right sort of kit for you, you can choose from the following array of components:

    • Front Lip
    • Front Bumper
    • Fog Light Surrounds
    • Bonnet
    • Mirror Covers
    • Roof Replacement

    • The BMW i4 M50 is quite possibly the best EV we have had the pleasure of testing.

It's superbly comfortable but at the simple touch of a button, it switches from tourer to tornado and you find yourself instantly doing speeds you should not be doing.

While not all EVs will have the same refinement or scintillating performance, this was both relaxing and thrilling to drive.

The Gran Coupé is a handsome car with a sense of sleek length and disguises its hatchback as a booted saloon rear end and that M Portimao Blue metallic paint certainly garnered a lot of positive attention.

Compared with the BMW iX it’s less of a show-stopper, but comes with a much more attractive price tag – and while the i4 is still quite the financial investment (R1,6m) we feel it gives you excellent value in return.

Yes, we did have a few charging issues (Eskom) and if you don't have a Wallbox charger at home filling up with petrol is MUCH easier. However, that being said if you’re looking for an outstanding driving experience both on the twisties and on the highway, this is definitely worth considering if you have decided to make the jump to the electric car.

    • The totally bonkers Ferrari 812 Competizione was spotted in Bryanston today by Brad Ainge.

It actually makes the F12tdf look quite tame in comparison. Which would you rather have?

Priced around R14m depending on spec.

    • Our time has come to an end with the most potent version of Mzansi’s favourite bakkie, the new Toyota Hilux GR-Sport.

The 2.8-litre turbo diesel powerplant has been tweaked to push out 165kW and 550 Nm thanks to an updated ECU which also responsible for the much needed revised mapping of the six-speed auto.

The sporty Hilux gets new monotube shocks as well as stiffer coil springs which make the bakkie a lot more settled at higher speed and provide great feedback on some of the twisty bits. If you don’t have a full load at the back however, you might find it a tad too stiff and rather twitchy for day to day driving.

Inside you get a load of sporty touches including “carbon fibre” trim pieces but the highlight has to be the race inspired front seats complete with Alcantara inserts and some GR badging on the headrests.

For the Hilux customers, this is a welcome addition to the range as the exterior and interior aesthetics align very neatly with the GR brand.

Yours from R891,400. Are you picking this or the Legend RS?
