Why You Should Take Up Motorcycle Riding In 2020

We’re calling it right now: 2020 is the year of the motorcycle. While it’s true that as of 2017, the motorcycle wasn’t exactly doing too badly in terms of sales, we still think 2020 is the perfect year for you to check out this alternative mode of transportation. There are plenty of reasons for you to ditch your cumbersome car and hit the open road on two wheels.

Whether you’re an environmental activist, a thrill-seeker, or a money-conscious saver, motorbikes provide a real and compelling alternative to cars. They may not seat as many passengers, but there’s a world of advantages that compensate for this minor flaw. Riding a motorcycle can be an incredibly rewarding experience – some would say even more so than driving. Here’s why you should take it up in 2020.

    It’s actually pretty safe

There’s a common misconception that riding motorbikes is not safe. That’s only true if the rider isn’t cautious and doesn’t obey the rules of the road. While it’s true that motorcycle riders have slightly more accidents than car drivers on average, the fatality rate for motorcycle accidents is still significantly lower than that of smoking, alcohol, or even falling over.

Now, that doesn’t mean you don’t need to take the necessary precautions. Riding a motorcycle can still be quite unsafe if you do it wrong. You’ll need good-quality equipment. If you want somewhere to start, then check out this link: https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_cat/62. There, you’ll find lots of great motorbike equipment including boots and riding gear.

    It’s environmentally friendly

Most motorcycles (not all) have much more efficient fuel consumption mechanisms than cars do. They get further on less fuel, so you’re filling up with less every time you visit a gas station. If you’re conscious about the environment, then picking up a motorcycle is definitely a good idea. Just make sure you choose one that’s more fuel-efficient.

It’s also not all about fuel consumption. Motorcycles, on average, use far fewer raw materials than cars to construct, so they’re more environmentally friendly on the manufacturing level as well. Although you’re better off riding a pedal bike if you really want to save the environment, as more conscious choices go, a motorcycle is definitely an option.

    It’s cheaper

While you won’t always pay less for your motorcycle, on average, it’s cheaper to run one of these vehicles than it is to run a car. Motorcycle insurance premiums are often far less costly than their car equivalents. There could be a number of reasons for this; although riders may be more likely to get into accidents, the cost of replacing the vehicle is lower, so insurance premiums fall.

If you do find yourself in need of money for supporting your new motorcycle habit, why not visit loans2go? This cheerful, friendly website will help you with everything from buying gear to buying fuel to even replacing your bike. You’ll be hard-pressed to find a more supportive loan company for motorcycle maintenance, upkeep, and general financial help.

    It feels nicer

Honestly, there’s no substitute for riding a well-tuned, well-maintained motorbike. You’ll notice how much more responsive and agile your bike is in comparison to your car almost immediately. Bikes turn on a dime; they’re much quicker to accelerate and brake; and they’re easily able to weave in and out of traffic (provided you’re doing so safely, of course).

There’s also the whole “filtering” concept. If you’re riding a bike, you can easily bypass a lot of stationary traffic and improve your position in a traffic jam. The legality of this manoeuvre varies from place to place, so make sure you’re not falling foul of the law. It’s also not always safe. When you’re in a position to filter, though, you’ll feel like a royal as you bypass all the car-driving unfortunates.

    There’s a really supportive community

Motorcycle owners are something of a clique. It’s not an exclusive clique like others can be, though, because motorcycle ownership is decidedly more rare than car ownership. As such, you’re going to find a supportive, interested community when you buy a bike, one that will help you with any problems you might encounter and share in your joys when you realise how great motorcycle ownership is.

There are also many motorcycle-related events for you to discover. In the UK alone, there are plenty of events for you to go to and revel in your newfound love of motorcycles. You’ll find like-minded enthusiasts there who will be more than happy to talk shop with you. Weirder events include the Enduropale le Touquet beach race and the Royal Enfield dirt track race.

Those 22" wheels look superb, especially in this spec.

Starts from R4,695,000 and that gets you a twin-turbo V8 delivering 542 hp (404 kW) and 770 Nm of torque.

This is the first time a GT Black Series has been shot on track in SA and potentially the first time one has posed with the slightly less hardcore AMG GT R Pro.

As far as we know, there are only 2 Eggs in SA. This one and an orange CCX in East London which has also not been seen in quite some time.
