The Lamborghini Asterion Concept Is A 900 HP Hybrid

We were waiting to see what Lamborghini had in store for us at the Paris Motor Show and after a number of leaks, we have the official information and some live pictures of the car.

The Lamborghini Asterion LPI910-4 has been built to demonstrate the technology that Lamborghini are capable of producing but it still looks very Lamborghini which is fantastic. It is not as edgy as the Huracan or Aventador but there are many aspects from both cars present on the Asterion. So what is special about this concept Lambo? To start, it is a hybrid and a very potent one at that. The rear wheels are powered by the 602 hp V10 from the Huracan, and the front wheels get three brushless electric motors producing 296 hp. This brings the total output of the hybrid to a Porsche 918 Spyder beating 898 hp.

You can choose from three driving mode; ‘Z’ for zero local emission running, ‘I’ for Ibrido which is hybrid in Italian and then ‘T’ for Termico which means thermal power. Electric power can be directed purely to the front wheels but if you choose the hybrid mode, you will be able to hit 100 km/h in just 3.0 seconds. As expected the structure is a carbon fibre monocoque with carbon composite panels which is needed because the additional technology apparently weighs 250 kg. This car is awesome and even though it is only a design study, I really hope something comes of this.
