The Most Dangerous Supercars To Drive Of All Time

There have been many amazing supercars to grace our roads over the years. But, some of them aren’t as great as they may seem. In this piece, we’ll take a trip through history and see some of the most dangerous supercars of all time!

    Lamborghini Countach
If you’ve been into cars for a while, you’ll know all about the Countach. This fantastically designed car was Lamborghini’s pride and joy in the 80’s. Teenage boys grew up with posters of this car plastered all around their bedrooms. Grown men had shrines to it in their garage and dreamed of one day owning this vehicle. There’s no doubt about it, the Countach was, and still is, sexy. It looked a bit like the Knight Rider car, but with some added style too. What could you possibly hate about a car this beautiful?

Well, sadly, looks aren’t everything when it comes to cars. This vehicle may have looked the part, but it drove horribly. People that owned them claimed they suffered terrible back injuries after driving for too long. Its ride was notorious for being incredibly uncomfortable. To go along with this, the clutch was one of the heaviest things inside the car. The only good thing about it is you got a massive leg workout trying to use it. As if this wasn’t bad enough, the gear stick was terrible too. Changing gears was incredibly difficult, and quite a few accidents were caused by this car’s poor drivability. Despite this, at least it gets onto ‘sexiest Lamborghinis’ lists from places like http://www.kcra.com/.

    Porsche 911
Porsche have introduced so many versions of their iconic 911 supercar. It’s been heralded as one of the greatest sports cars ever. People love the way it looks, as well as the more than appetising price. However, fifty years ago, when Porsche first invented this vehicle, it was a very dangerous beast.

The engine was set so far back in the car; it became a bit of a hazard for drivers. Make the wrong move, and you could end up in a tricky situation on the roads. There were massive weight problems that left the risks of injuries extremely high. As per ukclaimlawyers.co.uk, the most common car accident injury is whiplash. In the original 911, this was almost a guarantee if you didn’t play your cards right. So many accidents were caused, and Porsche had to go back to the drawing board to save their car. Thankfully, they got their heads together and came up with ideas to make this car safer. Now, the new 911’s are perfectly safe to drive thanks to all wheel drive systems and more balanced weight distribution. But, if you’re thinking of picking up an old one on the used car market, don’t say you weren’t warned!

    Ferrari 458 Italia
Ferrari’s are always seen as some of the best supercars of all time. There are so many amazing ones that earn their place in the history books. Who can forget the iconic Ferrari Enzo that was once the fastest car ever? Then, you have loads of other supercars that adorn the gorgeous Ferrari red and make everyone else incredibly jealous of you. However, not all Ferrari’s are as amazing as they seem. And, this is proven by the 458 Italia making my list.

The problem with this car was that it was just downright dangerous. There weren’t any steering problems, a heavy clutch, or a bumpy ride. Instead, these Ferrari’s had a tendency to burst into flames. There was a design flaw that causes this to happen and meant many owners got caught in fiery accidents. Luckily, no one was seriously injured or killed in a fire-related 458 Italia accident. And, thankfully, Ferrari recalled the cars and could make a change to prevent this from happening. But, when a car could burst into flames midway through your Sunday drive, it makes it pretty dangerous to get behind the wheel of.

    Aston Martin One 77
If you haven’t heard of this supercar, then you aren’t alone. This little Aston was released in 2008, and only 77 models were made. Just like every other car on this list, it looks like a beauty. If you walk past one of these on the street, you’ll be filled with envy. It’s just a beautiful vehicle that screams James Bond.

The only problem with it is that it’s way too fast. With over 750 BHP, this little supercar is an absolute beast. I know it may sound appealing, but it’s very dangerous. Have you ever tried to control that amount of power on regular roads and motorways? It’s nigh on impossible; there’s every chance you’ll end up rear-ending the car in front of you. It’s a thrill-seeking car, but, the insane power just makes it too dangerous to drive on modern roads.

    DeLorean DMC-12
Fans of Back To The Future will have heard of DeLorean before. It was the name of the featured car in that iconic movie franchise. But, the DMC-12 was also a supercar released in the 80’s. In fairness, it’s quite a nice car to look at. And, the idea behind it is also very cool too. The creator wanted to make a safety sports car, something that we hadn’t seen before.

Unfortunately, things ended up the opposite of what he’d hoped. The DeLorean was known as one of the most dangerous cars out there. It had a weak frame that broke easily in the slightest of crashes. As this video will clearly show you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mjd2NTJU9g/. Many people experienced massive issues if they got into a car accident in this car. To add to this, the doors were a safety issue too. When the car rolled over, as it did many times, the passengers couldn’t get out of the car. Certainly not a supercar you should buy anytime soon.

There are a lot more good supercars than there are bad ones. If you’re thinking of buying a classic supercar, I wouldn’t suggest any of these!

That start-up sounds pretty damn promising!

    • We waited a fair bit for the Tiguan R to arrive but that means it has been given enough thought and executed with the sort of German precision that makes us happy to have waited.

As fast SUVs go it’s a cracker, and with a price tag starting from R1,014,900 it is actually decent value in the segment.

It’s fun, aggressive when you want it to be and remarkably civilised when you don’t. Cars like this rarely make sense, but the Tiguan R is one case where that argument starts to change one's mind.

We cannot wait to drive the matching Golf next week!

Zandvoort Blue would not be our choice but the looks have certainly grown on us. What about all of you?

    • If you’re expecting a faster, angrier and more focused version of the original 86, you’re going to be happy with this car.

Toyota finally gave the 86 more power. It’s not take-your-breath-away power, but again, it’s not made to win drag races. If you want more power, get a Supra.

Sure it is a bit more pricey this time around but it is a no-regrets kind of car that you will enjoy just as much today as 10 years from now.

Long live the manual transmission, especially when it’s packaged within something as fun as the Toyota GR86.
