The 2018 Dodge Challenge SRT Demon Is Too Fast to Drag

If you’re an enthusiastic drag racer, you’re sure to want a car you can actually drive on the track. But the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon isn’t it. That’s not because it isn’t up to scratch when it comes to performance. It’s because it’s too powerful to be allowed in races, according to the National Hot Rod Association. It can do a quarter of a mile in 9.65 seconds, reaching 140.09 miles an hour. That makes it too fast for the NHRA’s liking, so it’s not going to be your new best friend for all your drag racing adventures. But that doesn’t mean that it can’t be your new favorite car.

If you want to give the car a try around a track, it is allowed by the NHRA if you add extra safety equipment. But even off the track, people are sure to love harnessing the power of the Demon – and there’s a lot of it. Dodge is pretty proud of the fact that the car is too much for the official drag racing authority, and maybe you will be too if you decide to own one. The car’s 840 horsepower means it boasts the world’s fastest 0-60 time for a production vehicle, at only 2.3 seconds. On top of that, no other production car can do a quarter-mile faster, and none have front-wheel lift while accelerating, except the demon.

There are some clever features in the car that help to make it as powerful as it is. For example, a transmission brake helps to hold the car in place as power builds up. It’s been engineered to make it suitable for a production car. Additionally, the car uses its air-conditioning system to cool down intake temperatures. The air-conditioning goes into the intercooler’s closed loop to help make the liquid coolant even colder.

If all that power isn’t enough, there’s always the option to tinker with the car later. Suppliers like https://transmissioncenter.net provide Dodge parts for upgrading and maintaining their vehicles. And, of course, if you want to race it, adding some safety equipment to the car will make it safer to drive, increasing the fun. The car is built to be extremely durable and is cleverly engineered, but you never know when you might want to make some changes.

But what if you don’t want to make any changes to the car? There is one way you can enjoy it as it is, without having to add extra safety modifications. John Hennessey says that Lonestar Motorsports Park will gladly host the car and its drivers. If that sounds ideal to you, you just need to attend a one-day drag racing school before you can drive on the track without a parachute or roll cage. So if you can make it to Texas, there’s a track waiting for you and your car to try it out. That gives you two choices – use extra safety precautions or take a quick course. Whichever one you choose, safety is the top priority.
