Ask a man what his most valued possession is, and most will select their cars as the definite answer. They form a relationship with their vehicles that sometimes trumps that with their own families. A car is your companion, your friend on the road, and in many cases your home. That is why taking absolute care of it and its performance is a must, and rather an obligation for anyone who truly appreciates their automobile. There are many things you can do to improve your car’s performance, but very few have the efficient effect of a coilover. But what are coilovers and how can they help improve your car’s performance?

    Coilover meaning

Coilovers are your best way to enhance the car’s shock absorbing system. They’re basically a suspension system that requires you to install coiled springs over your car’s shock absorbers. By doing so, you improve the handling of your car while also lowering the vehicle itself. In other words, coilovers are springs you add to your car in the form of coils to compress and retract based on how much weight the vehicle is exerting on the four wheels. Yet, these coils do more than just absorb the shocks from the speed bumps along the way. Here’s how they can improve your car’s performance exponentially.

    Better handling

A coilover can do much to improve your car’s handling. You get to adjust its height as you so desire, which means you can adjust the settings of the vehicle to fit any road you’re moving on. The car feels too low? Use coilovers to raise it, or vice versa. That means your car can better adjust to rough terrain or a smooth highway, because you control its height.

    Balance

Coilovers also significantly improve a car’s balance. They specifically balance out the weight at the four corners of the car, making it much easier to take turns at high speeds, which is why they’re quite the popular tool for racing enthusiasts. But these guys probably have professionals handling installation. You on the other hand will need to go through coilovers installation instructions before you get yours so that you could ensure they’re properly installed and can do their function. Don’t forget that coilovers also help in the weight distribution of the car, which comes in handy if you’re driving at high speeds or just have too much weight on board.

    Maximum traction

Since coilovers help with balancing the car and distributing the weight over the four corners, that means you’ll be able to get the maximum traction out of your vehicle –– another feature that comes quite in handy for racing cars and those driving them.

    Safety

Believe it or not, coilovers actually help increase your car’s safety. When your car is well balanced and you get to control its handling, this means you’d be safer out there on the road. You can adjust to whatever road conditions, and your car can get you from point A to point B safer than without coilovers.

    Why you should get coilovers

Simple design and easy to install

They’re simple little gadgets that help your car’s performance and improve its maneuverability on the road. They’re also quite easy to install, so you don’t need to be a car expert to install a coilover. All you need to do is go over some installation instructions and you’re good to go about installing them yourself.

    Work with any car

This is a key advantage of coilovers. They simply work with pretty much any car out there. You don’t need to own a Ferrari or a racing car to install the coilovers and adjust the handling. They would work just fine on your average Toyota or any domestic family car for that matter. So, if you’re looking for better handling of your car but are worried coilovers won’t work with it, don’t worry. They will definitely work with your vehicle.

    Do your homework

Ask a man what his most valued possession is, and most will select their cars as the definite answer. They form a relationship with their vehicles that sometimes trumps that with their own families. A car is your companion, your friend on the road, and in many cases your home. That is why taking absolute care of it and its performance is a must, and rather an obligation for anyone who truly appreciates their automobile. There are many things you can do to improve your car’s performance, but very few have the efficient effect of a coilover.
