Are you looking to stock your new car with an essential kit in case of emergencies?

That’s a smart move — especially since research shows that new cars break down more often than older cars.

Even if you’re not worried about breaking down, having tools to help other drivers in sticky situations and reduce your risk of accidents is a good idea.

Keep reading for details on five must-have car accessories.

    1. Jumper Cables

How easy is it to accidentally leave your headlights on and end up with a flat battery?

We’ve all been there, and being stranded can quickly turn into an emergency if you’re in a remote area without phone service.

Keeping jumper cables in your vehicle allows you to restart with a little help from another driver. Most drivers will be more than happy to assist, and even the most rural location usually has at least a few passing vehicles.

Jumper cables also allow you to come to the rescue of other stranded motorists, and who doesn’t love feeling like a hero?

    2. Puncture Repair Kit

Just driven over something you shouldn’t have and got a puncture?

If you address it quickly, you should be able to drive home or to a garage without too much difficulty.

Keep a simple puncture repair kit in your trunk for situations like this. The kit will use a special sealant to prevent any more air from being lost as you drive, meaning you won’t suddenly get a flat tire.

    3. Tire Inflator and Pressure Gauge

Once you’ve repaired a puncture, you might need to reinflate your tire.

Keeping an accurate tire pressure gauge, along with a manual that tells you how much air your tires need, will ensure you don’t over or under inflate.

Having a tire inflator of your own means you won’t have to rely on finding one at a garage, allowing you to get on your way as quickly as possible.

    4. Dashcam

Installing a dashcam offers valuable protection, especially if you get into an accident.

You’ll be able to capture any wrongdoing by other motorists on video, so it’s won’t just be your word against theirs when it comes to making an insurance claim.

Dashcams are easy to install and can offer both front and rear recording. Be sure to take the dashcam out of the car when you’re parked to avoid theft.

    5. First Aid Kit

Keeping a first aid kit in your car can be a lifesaver in emergency situations.

Many mini first aid kits are specifically designed to fit into your glove box and contain everything you need to treat a variety of issues.

If you have a specific health condition or take regular medication, it’s a good idea to add your own custom items to the kit.

Why Invest in These Must-Have Car Accessories?

Investing in these must-have car accessories makes it easier to deal with basic car problems, protects you against false insurance claims, and keeps you and your passengers safe.
