Jaguar’s F-Type Project 7 Hits South African Streets

Last week I attended the launch of the new Special Vehicle Operations baby from Jaguar. It is called the F-Type Project 7 and it is absolutely glorious to look at. It is a limited edition model which will see a global production run of just 250 units. We originally had 5 destined for South Africa but it may only turn out to be 4 due to certain circumstances. Price tag for this D-Type inspired is around the R3.1 million mark considering the Rand against the British Pound which is not exactly cheap but all 250 of these units will appreciate over time.

Power comes from their 5.0-litre supercharged v8 pumping out 423kW (567hp) and 680Nm of torque which allows the all-alluminium-bodied car to hit 100km/h from standstill in just 3.9 seconds. Power goes to the rear wheels via an eight-speed transmission and you get carbon ceramic brakes fitted as standard. You know you are looking at something a little bit more special than usual thanks to the bespoke carbon fibre aero pieces and Project 7 livery. I really hope these cars are driven and not stored in a collection as they have to be seen in the ‘metal’. Thanks to Marc Rudman Photography for the pictures, I think it’s fair to say he did an epic job considering the stanchion ropes surrounding the car.
