There is a new king at the Hockenheimring short circuit and it goes by the name of the Lotus 3-Eleven. According to Sport Auto, the fastest series production Lotus lapped the track in 1.06,2 min, beating the insane Porsche 918 Spyder by 0.1 seconds. What makes this achievement even more impressive is that the 3-Eleven was sitting on set of standard road tyres and it was a cold day. “Christian set a fabulous lap in less than ideal conditions,” said Jean-Marc Gales, Lotus CEO. “We knew from the outset that we have created a simply phenomenal car that is capable of great things, and this lap record proves that beyond doubt. This is the ultimate embodiment of the Lotus design philosophy”. The 3-Eleven is powered by a revised supercharged 3.5-litre V6 engine which now makes 460hp, making the 3-Eleven capable of a 3.0 second 0 to 100km/h run and a maximum speed of 290km/h. Just watch the video below and you will see how rapid this thing is around the circuit. It sounds pretty damn good too!
