If you are looking for an unparalleled off-road driving experience, then few vehicles can match the experience offered by the Wrangler line of jeeps. These cars from leading automaker Fiat have become the benchmark in driving in almost impossible terrains. Thankfully, the 2018 model of the Wrangler JK has been announced and is almost every bit as promising as its name suggests.

    Performance

The exciting Wrangler JK 2018 is the latest model to be announced from the premium jeep manufacturer. The hottest new model can be identified distinctively by the presence of a decal on the driver’s side. The JK 2018 is equipped with the 285-hp engine with 6-speed manual transmission. What makes the new model something to watch out for is the low range of 2.73:1 which is ideal for rough terrain crawling. This is thanks to the Command-Trac system whereas the more advanced Rock-Trac version is also available for adrenaline junkies.

    Features

There are 2-door as well as 4-door varieties on offer with the 2018 JK model. The 4-door models are more expensive than the 2-door versions. If you go for the Unlimited version, however, you also get a wheelbase with a height of 20 inches above the ground level, and 19 cubic feet cargo space. There’s also a Golden Eagle edition which offers bronze-coloured rings for the headlights, special grille covers, titanium-coloured trimming and other eye-catching features.

You also get attractive jeep tops with several versions of the JK 2018, including the Golden Eagle as well as Rubicon Recon. Then you also have the Altitude version, which boasts of bumper trimmings, bulging hood, and leather interiors. The makers have provided an infotainment system but their main focus seems to have been making the seating more comfortable and attractive.

    Driving Experience

Like all other previous editions, the 2018 model of the Wrangler JK is an excellent choice for off-road driving. The doors and roof can be removed easily, enabling the owner to customise the driving experience to their need and convenience. You also get a foldable windscreen that you can simply move away to enjoy the wind on your face. Amidst all these newfangled design features, the Wrangler retains its characteristic charm and simplicity by adhering to its quintessential design philosophy.

    Caveats

Certain things need to be kept in mind, though. For starters, the Wrangler JK 2018 has been designed especially for off-road driving, so don’t expect it to give you a comfortable ride on paved roads. In fact, you’ll probably be a nuisance to other drivers. It requires a particularly experienced and nuanced driver to navigate the vehicle smoothly at turns while maintaining stability and balance. It is also not the most fuel-efficient of vehicles and you may seem your fuel costs driving up almost as fast as the speedometer reading.

    The Verdict

Overall, the 2018 Wrangler JK offers many options and an interesting variety in design features to choose from. It’s quite possible that you may want to buy all of them. Make sure that you make your decision before the waiting line is all filled.
