Ford Planning A More Hardcore Version Of The Focus RS

According to Autocar, Ford Performance is “watching the reaction to the new Focus RS closely before signing off an even quicker limited-run special”

Insiders have confirmed that an even more hardcore model is under consideration and it could potentially be the fastest-accelerating hatchback ever made. How will they do this you may ask? The improvement will come mainly from weight saving and upgrading the RS’s drivetrain. Budget constraints limited Ford’s weight-saving options for the standard RS so there is room for improvement on a more expensive version. Ford’s target for the bonkers RS will be to hit the 0 to 100 km/h mark quicker than the current benchmark of 4.2 seconds (Mercedes-AMG A45). If the potential is there to make the Focus the first hot hatch since the 2010 Subaru Cosworth Impreza STI CS400 to break the 4.0sec 0-62mph barrier, expect Ford to seize it.
