Do These Patents Reveal The BMW i5 Design?

Earlier on in the year, BMW confirmed that they were investigating a third i model and if we look at these rather interesting patent images discovered online, it seems they have opted for the BMW i5. The computer-generated images show a five-door model with very similar styling traits to the i3 and i8 which suggests that this is the much talked about third i model in their range. The signature kidney grille can be seen up front combined with the angular i8 headlights but it looks like a Tesla Model X from the side. The rear is where things go a bit pear-shaped (excuse the pun) as it seems to be sporting the horrible i3 rear styling and in fact looks simply like an enlarged i3. If these are not the patent images for a new i car then they must be previewing an upcoming concept of sorts for the next i model.
