Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA and GTAm Revealed With 533 HP (398 kW)

Ladies and gents, the Alfa Romeo GTA moniker is back in the form of a hotter version of the Giulia Quadrifoglio.

The brand new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA (Gran Turismo Alleggerita) sheds 100 kg compared to the regular Quadrifoglio offering and can sprint to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. If this is not hardcore enough, they have another offering for you called the GTAm which comes with just two seats, six-point harnesses, and a roll bar, while remaining fully street legal.

In addition to its diet, the new Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA packs an updated version of the 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 that now produces 533 horsepower (398 kW), rather than the existing 505 hp (377 kW).

The Giulia GTA makes use of carbon fibre for the front bumper, roof, hood and fenders and features an active front splitter developed by Sauber Engineering. At the back, there is a prominent rear wing sitting on the boot and the revised rear bumper and diffuser houses an Akrapovič titanium exhaust with a pair of circular outlets at the centre. The GTAm version gets a slightly larger front splitter and the rear wing is finished in carbon.

Alfa improves the GTA’s handling by widening the front and rear track by 50 millimetres while new springs, shocks, and bushings update the suspension as further means to improve the handling.

Inside it will look fairly familiar to those that have climbed into a Giulia Quadrifoglio. Alcantara is the material of choice covering the dash, the pillars, the door panels and the middle of the seats. Inside the GTAm, you get carbon fibre seats with the rear fully enveloped in Alcantara where the rear seats used to be and your side and rear windows are replaced with Lexan.

They will only be building 500 units and if you are lucky enough to secure one, you will work with an Alfa brand ambassador that will help you through the vehicle’s delivery. These cars will also come with a Bell helmet in a GTA livery and full racing outfit from Alpinestars, including the suit, gloves, and shoes. The owners will get to use this gear at a course from the Alfa Romeo Driving Academy.

We reached out to Alfa Romeo South Africa and although they cannot confirm when it will come to the country, they are confident FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) is planning on bringing in some of these.
