Last week we made mention that there were rumors flying around about a possible RS1 and now the German manufacturer has confirmed that they will indeed be adding the model to their lineup. Set to go on sale early next year, the new 2017 Audi RS1 will produce 280 bhp and feature Quattro all-wheel drive.

Audi will offer the RS1 in both available bodystyles, three- and five-door, just like the S1 which currently stands at the top of the A1’s range. This will be the swansong of the small Audi as the company is going to reveal its successor in 2018 which is going to be based upon the MQB platform. Performance wise, we can expect a 0 to 100 km/h sprint time of close to 5 seconds considering the S1 can already do 5.8 seconds.
