The driver managed to escape with his life but his beautiful Aston is heading for the junkyard. The car apparently lost control near the Royal Akarana Yacht Club around 3am which resulted in it slamming into the curb which bent the front wheels back under the chassis. A nearby lamp post was also knocked over which fell onto the car and smashed the windscreen. Police said alcohol was a factor but the driver escaped without serious injury.
