BMW has just announced a global motorsport strategy which includes a return to the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and plans for a Formula E entry for next season. Motorsport boss Jens Marquardt said BMW’s return to Le Mans was something “we are particularly looking forward to”. He continued: “The way the WEC has developed so well makes us confident that there is a big future for GT racing.”
Their Formula E participation will allow the brand to get familiar with processes used in this innovative series and to check if there is a possibility of a works involvement in the future.
