Land Rover has finally fully revealed the new Range Rover Velar, the fourth model in the Range Rover family. They are billing it as a product for a “new type of customer” but I think a lot of their Evoque customers and even Range Rover Sport customers will opt for this model.

Land Rover SA says the all-new Velar will go on sale in South Africa in the fourth quarter of 2017, with pricing set to be released closer to launch.

Under the hood you will be offered a range of six petrol and diesel powerplants, all matched to a ZF 8-speed auto transmission.

    • Four-cylinder Ingenium diesels will be offered in 132 kW and 177 kW
    • Four-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine that delivers 184 kW will also be available
    • 221 kW version of this mill is expected to join the range in early 2018
    • 700 Nm V6 diesel
    • 280 kW supercharged V6 petrol unit will allow the range-topping Velar to reach 100 km/h from standstill in 5.7 seconds
Pricing in SA is estimated to start at R850k for the 132kW Four-cylinder Diesel. Top of the range First Edition could be as much as R1.4 million.
