What To Do With Your Old Clunker

So you have an old beater car, and it’s been sitting in your driveway or garage for months or even years. What do you do with it? If you don’t have any plans on fixing it, or if life keeps getting in the way of those plans, then it might be time to consider the options you have to rid yourself of it and free up some space.

    Use The Internet To Sell

Many people look for affordable used cars on sites like Craigslist these days, allowing for other, similar platforms to grow and flourish. If you’re looking to sell your car online, make sure that you take appealing pictures and know how to pitch your sale. Be upfront with any problems your car might have, as well. The more trust you’re able to build with a potential customer base, the more likely you are to sell your car and get the most money in return. This option is good for people who don’t necessarily need to free up their space immediately and would rather make as much money back as they possibly can.

    Donate To Charity

The Guardian has a list of do’s and don’ts regarding what you should be doing with your junk car, and one of their suggestions includes donating the vehicle to charity. Many charities will take your car away free of charge, and you’ll be able to write off the car’s donation on your tax return. This can be a huge help to people who don’t necessarily need money right away in exchange for their car. Best of all, these donated cars can be bought and used by people who would otherwise struggle to find something reliable and affordable.

    Avoid Give-Aways

Though it might seem like the best option if you want to get rid of your car immediately, Millennial Magazine states that giving your car away is a bad idea because your car still has value even as a clunker. They suggest at least calling a junkyard if you don’t have the time to list your sale or go through the hassle of attempting to find a buyer.

    Go To A Junk Shop

If you sell a junk car in Denver, Colorado, you’ll be able to make back a little money and get rid of your old car at the same time. This is a great option for people who are more focused on freeing up space in their garage and aren’t too worried about the amount of money they could be making back. In addition, many junk shop services will offer easy pick-up, taking the hassle of transporting your car out of the equation.

    Sell For Parts

You don’t necessarily need to sell the entire car in order to make some money off of it. In many cases where a car isn’t in a condition to be sold whole, there are still plenty of usable parts within it that can be sold separately for a decent amount of money. Services like parts pickers will be able to collect your vehicle and harvest the usable parts for you, giving you money in exchange.

These are just a few ways that your old car can earn you money. Don’t let it sit in your garage taking up space; get out and sell it to free up your garage and add more money to your wallet.
