Bugatti Veyron Vitesse Legends Edition 2013: Jean-Pierre Wimille

Yep another special edition Bugatti Veyron but it doesn’t phase me at all. They are paying tribute to six of the most important people in their 104 year history which means we will be seeing a new special edition every 2 months for the next year. The first one is the Jean-Pierre Wimille version and you might be asking who this is. He won the 24 Hours of LeMans twice for Bugatti in 1937 and 1939. The interesting part was the name of his co-driver in the 1939 win, Pierre Veyron, and yes that is where this hypercar got it’s name from. Unfortunately, Wimilli died in a car accident in 1949. So what is special about this version? It is inspired by the 1937 LeMans winning car which was finished in French racing blue and so Bugatti have produced a blue clear-coated carbon fibre with a light Wimille Blue finish. Obviously the interior will also be given a makeover to match the theme but most importantly, the mechanicals and figures are exactly the same as the standard Veyron Vitesse. This means 1183hp, 8.0-lire W16, thrashing you to 100km/h in 2.6 seconds. Price tag is estimated to be around £1.5 million.
