As if we are not excited enough for The Grand Tour to start we learned this morning that the opening scene of the “Top Gear Trio’s” new show cost $3.2 million to film. The Sun says that the scene was filmed in the Californian desert and depicts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond driving three modified Ford Mustangs with a further 150 cars, 2,000 petrolheads, six jet planes, acrobats and stilt-walkers in toe. They [The Sun] go on to claim that this insane opening “is the most expensive ever seen on the small screen”.

Apart from this news the only thing we can confirm about the show is that the first episode will be proudly South African as it was filmed in a tent in Johannesburg and it will air on the 18th of November.
